Transmission corridor along the coastal area !!!

Post by shineseb »

I was thinking about the new corridors which are planning for northern region. Its a great initiative and cooperation from all the stake holders for this project is the base. So recently we had a discussion and the issues is all about land acquisition. Then our respected METRO man Er. Sreedharan sir mentioned about the successful story of kochi metro and the whole credit for the land acquisition team.
Considering the terrain of kerala and its narrow features space is a constraint. So drawing EHV lines always end up with huge investment/compensation/disputes and lot more...

So why we can't think of a HVAC or HVDC SEA port link between northern southern and central region?? I mean a line from Kasargode to trivandrum via calicut, thrissur, kochi alapuzha:)

We have a lot of technology in power system viz HVDC,marine cables and now Gas insulated Conductors. So no one have any objection. Land acquisition will be less compared to thickly populated area. Moreover this link will be the shortest one it can act as back bone of kerala. Hope we can tackle all the technical issues.

Lets discuss
