Alappuzha District Unit celebrated ‘Engineers’ Day’ on September 15, 2015
Kerala State Electricity Board Engineers’ Association (KSEBEA) Alappuzha District Unit celebrated National ‘Engineers’ Day’ on September 15, 2015 at Haripad to honor Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s achievements and contribution to the Country. Engineer’s Day is celebrated on his birthday, 15 September every year through the country.
Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, KCIE (popularly known as Sir MV; 15 September 1860 – 14 April 1962) was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman and the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918. He is a recipient of the Indian Republic’s highest honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955.He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India.
Er. Balakrishanan Nair.K , General Manager , ALIND Ltd, Switch Gear Division ,Mannar was the chief guest of the function. The chief guest Inaugurated the meeting and delivered a key note on: “Engineering Challenges for a Knowledge Era”. KSBEA General Secretary, Er. George Mathew addressed the gathering on the subject “ The Kerala Power Sector- Technical Challenges and Solutions”
The Meeting requested the cooperation of the people of Kerala for completing the 400 KV line from Koodamkulam in Edammon-Pallikara portion in time. The Meeting also stressed the importance of speedy commissioning of the said transmission line, which can act as a major power corridor and can catalyze Kerala’s growth. The delay in commission the various transmission lines will badly affect the availability of power corridors which in turn affect in availing the power from central share and other sources.
Engineers from various organizations participated in the event. Er. Anil M commemorated Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on the occasion. Er. Rajesh K. R led the oath taking ceremony. Er. K Ganagadahara Kuruppu , Special Officer ,CAPE, Punnapra , Er. K.G Gireesh, Director, Tiny Tots School Alappuzha felicitated the event.
