Our tribute to the country’s former President, Missile Man, and a great Technocrat
Former President A P J Abdul Kalam passed away, he was admitted to a hospital following sudden illness.
Kalam (84) took ill at a function here and was rushed to the hospital, M Kharkrang, SP Khasi Hills, said.
The former President collapsed during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management here at around 6.30pm and was taken to the hospital.
AvulPakirJainulabdeen Abdul Kalam India’s 11th President was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, a small town in Tamil Nadu. A.P.J Abdul Kalam served as President from 2002-2007 and before that he was an aerospace engineer with Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Dr Kalam courtesy his straightforwardness and helpful approach during his Presidency tenure was known as People’s President. He has always been a source of inspiration for youth
